Prescott Farm Environmental Education Center hired Conneston Construction as our construction management company to coordinate and oversee a major expansion of our Laconia Campus in 2022.  The project included extensive site work, construction of a new two-story building, and construction of a connecting structure situated between two historic buildings, which was one of the most complicated parts of the project. While CCI dealt with supply chain delays and the labor shortages impacting subcontractors throughout the project, they also worked with us to ensure the safety of our staff and visitors in the midst of our busy summer camp season.

I cannot say enough about the professionalism and flexibility that they showed, pivoting to other parts of the project when necessary, problem solving with us when materials didn’t arrive as scheduled, and seeking ways to reduce costs as the price of construction materials skyrocketed throughout 2022.  Their communication and follow-through were outstanding and despite multiple challenges, the project came in under budget in the end.  We are thrilled with the craftsmanship of our new buildings and the overall experience we had working with CCI!

Onaway staff and campers could not be more grateful to the team at CCI for the beautiful improvements to our campus. We began in 2020 with an exciting plan for the building of a new Health Center and Nurse’s Family apartment, and the renovation of two spaces: the former infirmary/health center and the camp director’s apartment. The repurposed former infirmary spaces now house a History & Games Room with a cozy fireplace, a Fiber & Textile Room, a Multipurpose studio for yoga and music, and costume and props storage rooms for the theater and dance departments. We enjoyed having the CCI crew on our campus. The work site was always clean, and the crew was friendly and responsible.

In 2022, CCI broke ground on one of Onaway’s most ambitious capital projects to date. The renovation of Woodland Hall, a beloved community gathering space with a stage.  This involved a full rebuild of the adjacent Arts & Crafts and Ceramics studios, and the rebuilding of our Director’s Cabin. The results far exceeded our expectations in quality and beauty.

Throughout all these projects, the whole CCI team, most notably Mark Bolstridge, Damien Patten, and Jason Hand, worked tirelessly to support our goals and develop creative solutions to the challenges that arise when you marry new construction with the renovation or replacement of cherished, nearly century-old buildings.

The final result of these projects is nothing short of stunning! Our Onaway alumna architect, Sarah Mudge, created designs that maintained our traditional rustic style, but were elevated to more fully meet our program needs. Each step of the way, the CCI team found unique and beautiful solutions. The newly built and renovated spaces are stronger and more beautiful, but also look like they have been there all along. Our campers loved performing on the expanded stage and creating projects in the airy and gorgeous new arts studios.

We cannot thank CCI enough for their expertise and care in a project that will impact our campers and community for years to come.

Having worked with CCI and the team on two previous projects, I knew we would be in good hands from the onset. After many years of conceptual plans, budgets, sketches, and dreams to transform the old Pop Whalen Ice Arena into a Four-Season Recreational Facility.  CCI was able to come in and make that happen.

Jeff and the team came in with about twenty subcontractors to do a walk-through and create the initial budget.  This gave Friends of Pop Whalen a baseline to begin the fundraising and planning with the Town of Wolfeboro. Once the project was approved by the voters in March, CCI removed the old building beginning in April 2022 and finished the original building reconstruction in early January 2023.  Pop Whalen was back to the business of skating for the winter season.

The project is all about planning and management which CCI delivered. As I still see old faces return to Pop, they are totally amazed by the transformation. Anyone familiar with construction is just amazed by the sheer amount of work that was completed in such a short amount of time.

The balance of the work will be complete by March 2023, as scheduled, and we look forward to the next venture with CCI.

Special thanks to Jason Hand, that managed the day to day work at Pop Whalen, great job!!
